Douro's Inland Waterway 2020

The river nautical mapping project of Douro waterway (DWW) is integrated into the “Douro’s Inland Waterway 2020”, action under the management of Douro, Leixões and Viana do Castelo Port Administration (APDL) and is an essential project for strengthening the safety conditions of navigation on this route. The project carried out by Instituto Hidrográfico consisted of several stages, namely:

• The hydrographic survey of the entire DWW;
• The definition of the waterway;
• The preparation of maritime marking projects;
• The elaboration of river nautical cartography.

After its full implementation, it will allow a significant increase in navigation safety along a waterway of growing importance for the region and the country.
