World Nature Conservation Day
The 28th of July is the World Day of Nature Conservation. On this date, it is intended to raise awareness of environmental issues, especially those relating to nature conservation.
In the case of the sea, this is one of the most impacting resources in the world. It is to be remembered that 70% of our planet is occupied by seas and oceans, and in these are 97% of all the water on the planet. It is also in the sea where there are various species essential for the well-being of nature and human life.
As an organ of the Portuguese Navy, the Hydrographic Institute (IH) has the mission of ensuring activities related to the sciences and techniques of the sea, as well as contributing to the defense of the marine environment.
Promoting practices that preserve our imposing sea is a mission for all of us.
