2025 World Hydrography Day
June 21 was established by the United Nations General Assembly as World Hydrography Day.
Created on the initiative of the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO), the purpose of this date is to raise awareness of the importance of the IHO and the hydrographic services of its Member States in promoting safe navigation—particularly in ports, areas of high international maritime traffic, and environmentally sensitive maritime zones—as well as in protecting the marine environment.
In recognition of this date, the Hydrographic Institute held a seminar on June 18 to discuss the theme defined by the International Hydrographic Organization for 2025: Seabed Mapping: Enabling Ocean Action.
