World Day for the Prevention of Drowning
Today, July 25, World Day for the Prevention of Drowning is celebrated.
Deaths by drowning in the sea are often caused by arrears (or return current). This phenomenon occurs at sea, near the beaches. These are areas with no waves, where there is a different shade in water and foam on the surface. A squaw appears to be a calm zone, but in reality it is where the sea stream is stronger.
Someone who can find himself in a river should avoid swimming against the current, because they will tire and lose their strength. You should try not to panic, keep floating and ask for help waving to the beach.
The waters are one of the oceanographic phenomena studied by the Oceanography Division of the Hydrographic Institute (IH). Awareness and education are the priority of the IH, so that we can enjoy our beaches safely.
