Monitoring of water and sediments in Rio Tagus
On April 3, another Tagus River monitoring campaign took place, with water samples and measurement of physico-chemical parameters in three defined sites of the estuary.
This campaign is part of the capacity of the Hydrographic Institute, through the Division of Chemistry and Pollution of the Marine Environment, to carry out work and studies on monitoring and environmental characterisation of the marine environment, by collecting samples and determining certain parameters considered pollutants (nutrients, metals or organic compounds).
This monitoring programme in the Tejo started in 1998 and currently water samples are taken quarterly.
