Visit by Professor Doctor Nuno Crato to the IH

The former Minister of Education and Science, Professor Doctor Nuno Crato, visited the Hydrographic Institute (IH) on March 11, 2022.

On the day he taught his last class at the Higher Institute of Economics and Management of the University of Lisbon (ISEG), Professor Doctor Nuno Crato participated in a workshop on time series and, being one of the topics on the agenda the use of Fourier transforms for series analysis, one of the examples given was the Lord Kelvin tide forecaster of the IH, which is one of the few examples in the world.

The Lord Kelvin Tide Previsor is a very esteemed and preserved piece by the IH and, within the framework of this workshop, the participants made a brief visit to our facilities and attended a presentation on the operation of the forecaster.
