Visit by the President of the EDP Foundation

The President of the EDP Foundation, Dr. António de Almeida, visited the Hydrographic Institute (IH), on 27 April 2015, where he was received by the Director General of the Hydrographic Institute, Rear Admiral José Luís Branco Seabra de Melo, accompanied by the DD and DT.

After the presentation by the Technical Director, Captain of the Sea-and-War Freitas Gunner, about the mission and potential of the IH in the areas of the sea sciences, Dr. António de Almeida visited the divisions of the Technical Directorate – namely Hydrography, Navigation, Oceanography and the Technical and Scientific Data Center, where information on the activities and services provided by the IH to the Squadron and the national maritime community in general was exchanged.

At the signing of the Honor Book, the President of the EDP Foundation left the following message:
“ It was a great honor to have had the opportunity to visit the Hydrographic Institute and to have been informed of the work it does.
As a former naval officer, I remembered how I was treated during the time I served you. The Navy and its officers are unique.
I want to wish the Hydrographic Institute all the best and to thank Admiral Seabra de Melo”.
