Visit by General Supreme Allied Commander Transformation to MGEOMETOC COE

On 20 April 2021, the Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (SACT) General André Lanata, visited Portugal at the invitation of the Ministry of National Defense.

As part of this event, General SACT visited all NATO units in Portugal, ending with a visit to the latest NATO Maritime Geospatial, Meteorological & Oceanographic Centre of Excellence (MGEOMETOC COE).

This was the second time General SACT visited MGEOMETOC COE, based at the Hydrographic Institute. During this meeting, the Chief of Staff of the Armada, Admiral António Mendes Calado, and the Director General of the Hydrographic Institute, Contra Almirante Ventura Soares were present.

The visit began with a presentation directed by MGEOMETOC COE Director, Commander Fernando Artilheiro, who was presented a briefing on the mission, work programme, activity and projects of the Maritimo Excellence Center.

He then visited the COE facilities where the MGEOMETOC COE work team was presented.

The meeting culminated in this way with the signing of the Book of Honor by General SACT.
