Transition to new production formats for Electronic Navigation Cards
The first training in S-101, taught by Teledyne CARIS, was held at the IH from 11 to 15 December, in order to boost the transition of the current format “S-57 Transfer Standard for Digital Hydrographic Data” used in the production of electronic navigation cards (CEN) for the future S-101 format “ENC Product Specification”
The Hydrographic Institute, as an entity responsible for the production of nautical cartography at national level, will in the coming years face the challenge of converting its electronic cartography to S-101, aligned with the latest standard S-100 of the International Hydrographic Organization that reflects the need for maritime navigation to evolve into a dynamic and integrated system of geospatial information.
