BH team on the island of Corvo, together with Agent Haired of the Maritime Authority - 2019
A team of the Hydrographic Brigade (BH), made up of 4 elements, landed from the NRP D. Carlos I, along with the water boat “Mergulhão” on 19 July 2019 off Flores Island to carry out top-hydrographic surveys on the islands of Flores and Corvo.
After ensuring logistics on the island of Corvo and the good conditions METOC, the transit of the Flowers to the Raven took place on July 26.
The BH Team, during their stay in Flores, took the opportunity to test and fine-tune the survey vessel, install a tidal wave and perform top-hydrographic surveys.
The priority area of survey on the island of Corvo, port of the House, is already completed together with the topography of Porto and coordination of the aids to navigation.
In the next few days the BH team will conduct hydrographic surveys around the island of Corvo, from the coverage carried out last year by the NRP Admiral Gago Coutinho to the bathimetric of the 10 meters.
The greatest difficulties experienced during the mission are the use of the means of surveying in the face of rapid changes in weather and oceanographic conditions that also condition the projection of logistics between island.
Despite these difficulties, already expected from the Western Group, the team is motivated by the mission and reception of the people that this small island of Corvo has offered, also highlighting its unique natural beauty.
