The Maritime Instrumentation Center was opened 6 years ago

The Maritime Instrumentation Center (IMC) of the Hydrographic Institute (IH) was inaugurated on May 6, 2014.

It is in this Center, installed at the Vice Admiral Hydrographic Base Sarmento Gouveia (Seixal), that the calibration, maintenance and development of technical and scientific equipment and instruments used in the observation of the marine environment and in research in the Sea Sciences are carried out.

The CIM incorporates a Calibration Laboratory, designed to perform calibration tests of hydro-oceanographic instruments and a Maintenance and Development Section, for logistical support in the operation and in the performance of preventive and corrective maintenance and the development of technical-scientific systems, equipment and instruments.

After 6 years, this Centre has a unique technical capacity in the country, which is intended to be available not only for the HI, but also to support other research centres and has therefore proved to be a potential for becoming a National and International Centre of Excellence for technological development in the area of maritime observation systems.

Here we remember the film produced by the National Defense, on the occasion of the inauguration of this Center.
