Seawater temperature in the Algarve above the average of the last 10 years

In recent days, the buoy network of the integrated environmental monitoring system of the Hydrographic Institute (MONIZEE) has seen a significant increase in sea surface temperature in the Algarve, with Faro reaching a maximum of 25.1° C.

However, the historical maximum for the last 10 years has not yet been overcome, keeping the record for the Coastal Faro buoy (CSA82/D) of 26.5°C reached on 28 July 2016 and for the Oceanic Faro buoy (CSA81) of 26.3°C reached on 6 September 2021.
