Substition of support and antenna of the ondograph buoy of Leixões

On February 6, 2020, the Maritime Instrumentation Center was in Leixões to perform a corrective maintenance to the Ondograph Station located in this port.

During this action, there was a need to replace the support and receiver antenna of the data transmitted by the Leixões ondograph buoy.

This antenna is located in the lighthouse of Leça da Palmeira, about 35 meters high, and was therefore a demanding work in terms of manoeuvre and coordination, also taking into account the weather conditions felt during this day.

At the end of this intervention, there was a significant improvement in the reception signal HF and in the quality of the data received from the ox, fundamental to the Port of Leixões (APPL), more specifically to obtain the maritime agitation (height and direction of ripple), as well as the water temperature.
