Félix Storm
During March 10 and 11 there was a worsening of the state of the sea in mainland Portugal due to the passage of storm Felix. This storm, originated by the propagation of a low pressure in the North Atlantic, generated a strong West ripple.
The monitoring network of the Hydrographic Institute recorded a maximum height of 17,62 m and a significant height of 9,96 m on March 11 at 08:00, with peak periods of 16 s and west direction. It should be noted that the measured height values correspond to historical maximums in the coastal leixões buoy (active observation point since 1996).
