Start of the Specialization Course in Hydrography 2017/18
The edition of the Specialization Course in Hydrography 2017/18 of the Hydrography and Oceanography School of the Hydrographic Institute began today.
The current edition of the Course, in addition to the four Portuguese Navy officers, includes an officer of the Royal Navy of Morocco and two civilians, one of Italian nationality and one of Brazilian nationality.
The Moroccan officer is attending the course in the context of bilateral relations between Portugal and the Kingdom of Morocco. This is not the first time that this School has welcomed students from this country, and the 2002/2003 edition has already received two students from the Royal Navy of Morocco.
Civil students have registered within the framework of the opportunity given to the civilian community to take advantage of the excess vacancies. The current case is a concrete example of the growing interest of civilian students from other countries in attending our courses. This interest is mainly due to its recognition with the category A by the International Geometric Federation, the International Hydrographic Organization and the International Cartographic Association, which guarantees the high quality of training and is usually reflected in a high employability rate. On the other hand, only 20 courses worldwide are recognized with this category and some of these courses do not allow their attendance by civilian students.
The current Course has as patron Admiral Sousa Leitão, a Hydrograph Engineer who left a marked mark on the history of the Hydrography and the Portuguese Navy.
This course will last 49 weeks of lessons, expected to end on September 14, 2018.
