Deputy Secretary of State and National Defense visits the IH

On 17 January, the Admiral Chief of the Armada Staff, Admiral Mendes Calado, received at the Hydrographic Institute (IH) the Deputy Secretary of State and National Defense (SEADN), Dr. Jorge Seguro Sanches.

This visit took place within the framework of institutional visits and aimed to make known the capabilities of the IH as an organ of the Portuguese Navy and State Laboratory. The IH operates in direct dependence on the Admiral Chief of the Armada's Staff, being the competence regarding the definition of strategic guidelines, as well as the monitoring of its implementation, exercised by the Minister of National Defense in conjunction with the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education and the Minister of the Sea.

The Director-General of the IH, Rear Admiral Carlos Ventura Soares, had the opportunity to present the Hydrographic Institute, in its human, technical-scientific, operational and financial dimensions, showing the main projects in progress, as well as the medium and long-term vision.

The following was the visit to the Technical Directorate (Hydrography, Navigation, Oceanography, Marine Geology and Chemistry and Pollution of the Marine Environment) and to the Geospatial, Meteorological and Oceanographic Maritime Center (MGEOMETOC).
