It docked on June 1 in the afternoon, in the port of Ponta Delgada, the Navy’s hydrographic ship NRP “Admiral Gago Coutinho” for a logistics scale. The mission of the ship is to carry out operations with the ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) Luso da EMIPC (Mission Structure for the Extension of the Portuguese Continental Platform) in an area north of the Azores known as Maxwell's fracture. These ROV dives aim to collect more scientific data to cement the proposal of Portuguese extension already submitted to the United Nations.

The ship left the Lisbon Naval Base on May 27 and took a training dip the day after southwest of Cabo de São Vicente. It then sailed to the Azores where it is docked until June 2 and then will head north to perform the ROV dives, being expected to return to Lisbon on June 22nd.
