Recognition of the Specialization Course in Hydrography with Category A

It took place on March 22, a presentation and defense session of the proposal to renew the recognition of the Specialization Course in Hydrography with Category A, by the Hydrography and Oceanography School of the Hydrographic Institute.

As the meeting took place in New Zealand, the session was held by video conference. The presentation of the course was followed by a period of debate, during which several questions were asked by the International Board on Standards of Competence for Hydrographic Surveyors and Nautical Cartographers (IBSC). In the end, the IBSC decided to consider, immediately, the renewal of recognition with category A, without the need to submit a new proposal and without corrections to the proposal presented.

The Specialization Course in Hydrography of this School will thus continue among one of the currently 20 hydrography courses worldwide with this recognition.

The hydrography courses taught at the School of Hydrography and Oceanography have been internationally recognized since 1983.

The main functions of the IBSC are to define the standards of competence for hydrographers and nautical cartographers and to analyze the proposals for recognizing the plans of hydrography training courses submitted by the various Schools and Universities worldwide.
