SIMOcean Project Meeting at the Hydrographic Institute

The Hydrographic Institute received, on 27 January 2017, a group of about 20 participants for the meeting of the SIMOcean - System for Integrated Monitoring of the Ocean project, which was attended by the partners of the Hydrographic Institute and the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere, elements of DEIMOS Engenharia S.A. as coordinators and, from other invited entities: the representative of the Norwegian Embassy and the managers of the program of the Directorate-General for Maritime Policy.

This project, funded by EEA Grants, aims to create a structure that aggregates different data sources contributing to improving marine data management. Such data may be observational, satellite or resulting from forecasting models.

The Hydrographic Institute, as a partner, contributes to the marine monitoring catalogue and data viewer, with integration of digital terrain models, oceanographic data and results of maritime and circulation agitation forecasts, as well as the testing and validation of the catalog and geoportal of the project.
