Presentation of the book “Arctic Yearbook 2016” at the Hydrographic Institute
It took place at the Duarte Pacheco Pereira Auditorium of the Hydrographic Institute, on December 6, 2016, the presentation session of the “ Arctic Yearbook 2016”, published annually by the Arctic Council.
Dr. Lassi Heinininen, from the University of Lapland, the session was promoted by the Portuguese members of the thematic network of Geopolitics and Security of the Arctic Council, Sandra Balão and Mário Pontes, and was supported by the Hydrographic Institute, the Association of Auditors of the National Defense Courses, Management Global Information and International Business Consulting.
The Arctic Council is the main intergovernmental forum that promotes cooperation, coordination and interaction between states and the Arctic indigenous communities, particularly on issues of sustainable development and environmental protection in the Arctic. Although Portugal is far from the Arctic, its impact on the planet's climate and biodiversity can affect national interests.
