Instituto Hidrográfico personnel accompany visit to the Peniche tide gauge

On June 4th, Marine Biology undergraduate students from the Polytechnic of Leiria visited the Peniche tide gauge as part of their Oceanography course.

The visit was accompanied by members of the Maritime Instrumentation Center of the Portuguese Hydrographic Institute, who shared their expertise on how tide gauges work, how sea level is measured, and the importance of this data for coastal studies.

This activity provided a valuable hands-on learning opportunity, enhancing students’ understanding of the practical application of oceanographic concepts and the importance of environmental monitoring in the field of marine sciences.
