Participation of the IH in the cultural session of the Navy Academy

On 9 April, a joint cultural session took place at the Navy Academy, this Academy with the University of Aveiro, under the theme “Ocean Observation and Modeling”.

The President of the Navy Academy, Admiral Francisco Vidal de Abreu, was honored to welcome and declare open the presentations given by experts from the Hydrographic Institute (HI) and the University of Aveiro represented at this session by Prof. Doctor Luís Filipe Menezes Pinheiro.

The interventions of the IH were carried out by oceanographer João Vitorino, with a presentation dedicated to the monitoring of the ocean and the First Lieutenant Luís Lent dos Santos in support of naval operations GeoMetoc. From the University of Aveiro, Prof. Jesús Dubert spoke about ocean modeling as a supplier of environmental indicators and Dr. Luis Filipe Menezes directed his presentation to the high resolution images of the thermohalin structure and ocean processes, using seismic methods.
