Inauguration of the first NATO Centre of Excellence in Portugal

The first NATO Center of Excellence in Portugal was inaugurated yesterday, October 20, 2022, at a ceremony presided by the Minister of National Defense, Helena Carreiras, who had the presence of the Chief of Staff of the Navy and National Maritime Authority, Admiral Henrique Gouveia and Melo and NATO Director MGEOMETOC COE, captain of the sea and war Caesar Pires Correia.

The MGEOMETOC COE (NATO Maritime Geospatial, Meteorological & Oceanographic Centre of Excellence), is based at the Instituto Hydrográfico da Marinha Portuguesa and has the premise to enhance the maritime posture of the Alliance NATO, as well as the prestige and international recognition associated with leadership in the GEOMETOC Maritime domain.
