Official visit by the Chief of Staff of the French Navy to the IH
Inserted in an official visit program to the Portuguese Navy, the Chief of Staff of the French Navy, Admiral Bernard Rogel, visited the Hydrographic Institute (IH) on 18 July 2014, and was received on arrival by the Admiral Chief of Staff of the Navy and National Maritime Authority (CEMA and AMN), Admiral Macieira Fragoso and the Director-General of the IH, Rear Admiral Seabra de Melo.
After presentation of the IH by the Director-General, who stressed the importance of the institute's mission and the main valences in the areas of the sciences and technologies of the sea, the visit program included the exhibition of the institutional film and a passage through the divisions of the Technical Directorate – where they were able to exchange information on the increase of bilateral relations between the two countries, which contribute to the development of cooperation in the scientific areas of the sea and the support provided to naval operations.
After the signing of the IH Honor Book by Admiral Bernard Rogel, the visit to the School of Hydrography and Oceanography was followed - this being the only school in the country that provides courses with international validity, in the areas of hydrography and oceanography. The visit program ended with the Portuguese Navy Honor Book Signature by the Chief of Staff of the French Navy.
