Official visit by the Chief of Staff of the Navy and National Maritime Authority to the IH
The Hydrographic Institute (IH) received this week, on June 4, 2018, the first official visit of the Chief of Staff of the Navy and National Maritime Authority (CEMA and AMN), Admiral António Mendes Calado.
Admiral CEMA and AMN visited the Hydrographic Base, located in Seixal, and the headquarters in Lisbon. The Director-General of the Hydrographic Institute, Rear Admiral António Coelho Cândido, presented to him the capabilities and challenges of the IH in the areas of marine sciences and techniques, useful to the Navy, the scientific community and the country in general. The visit program also included the inauguration, by the Admiral Chief of Staff of the Navy and National Maritime Authority, of the exhibition entitled “ Map the Portuguese Sea: Cartography – from discoveries to today”.
At the end of the visit, Admiral CEMA and AMN signed the Honor Book and gave a few words of appreciation for the work done in the IH and encouraging all the military and civilians to continue to do their best for the IH, Navy and Portugal.
