i-Plastic Oceanographic Campaign

Under the international i-plastic project - Dispersion and impacts of micro- and nano-plastics in the tropical oceans: from regional land-ocean interface to the open ocean, is taking place on board the NRP “Andromeda”, another oceanographic campaign to characterize the existence and provenance of microplastics in the Portuguese continental shelf between Ovar (north of the Ria de Aveiro) and Leiria (south of the Estuário do rio Mondego).

The team consists of IH and FCT-UNL technicians who, with their commitment and the ship's garrison, covered more than 1/3 of the total planned area on the first day of work.
