The NRP Sagres launched 8 drifting buoys
The NRP Sagres launched two more drift buoys on January 26, 2020, contributing to the knowledge of ocean currents.
Currently, there are eight drifting buoys floating in the ocean, three between Lisbon and Tarifa, one between tariff and Cape Verde and four buoys were launched between Cabo Verde and Brazil.
These buoys are contributing to the Global Programme of Derivatives (Global Drifter Program – GDP), and their data can be tracked in real time: https://www.aoml. noaa.gov/phod/gdp/real-time_data.php
