The Calibration Lab is in full congratulations!

On September 21, 2007, the Calibration Laboratory of the Hydrographic Institute, now inserted in the Maritime Instrumentation Center (CIM) was inaugurated at the Azinheira Hydrographic Base in Seixal.

This laboratory has several calibration tests, including in the areas of:

  • Hydrostatic pressure: calibration of hydro-oceanographic pressure sensors* and calibration of relative pressure gauges and transducers*;
  • Pneumatic Pressure: calibration of pressure sensors with modular pressure controller*;
  • Temperature: calibration of hydro-oceanographic temperature sensors*, measurement of the electrical conductivity of sea water through temperature variation and determination of sound speed in sea water through temperature variation.

The CIM began the year 2023 with the calibration of thermistors for 20 Wavy floats under the Meloa project. The accredited CIM calibration laboratory is a reference in the temperature area, with an uncertainty of 0.003 oC in a range of values from 0 oC to 30 oC. For this work, calibrations of 40 thermistors are being performed for the 20 Wavy floaters (with 2 thermistors each).

*test accredited by NP EN ISO/IEC 17025 (IPAC).
