The Hydrographic Institute visited the College of St. Thomas

A Oceanographer from the Oceanography Division of the Hydrographic Institute visited the College of St. Thomas in Lisbon on January 15.

This visit aimed to present to students of the 3rd year the theme of oceanography, namely the concepts of Depth, Salinity, Temperature and General Circulation of the oceans. Some experiments were conducted on Density and in the end it was explained the work done by oceanographers and the importance of studying the ocean.

In this presentation, students were very curious about Sagres' circumnavigation journey and in response to one of the examples presented, on ocean circulation, asked if there would still be rubber ducks (https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20140722-odd-objects-reveal-ocean-secrets) drifting through the ocean after so many years!
