IH supported OHI on a technical visit to Cape Verde
Between March 27 and 31, the International Hydrographic Organization (OHI) made a technical visit to Cape Verde, under its Capacity Building program, to assess the current situation and future need in terms of maritime safety information, hydrographic surveys and cartographic production. This visit will result in recommendations for the strengthening of water capacity, and is also a prerequisite to outline a possible plan to build this capacity in Cape Verde. The team consisted of Commander Marques Peiriço, the Portuguese Navy Hydrographic Institute, and Commander Henri Dolou of the French Navy Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service.
Portugal, through the Hydrographic Institute, has had significant cooperation with Cape Verde, in particular with the Maritime and Port Agency, which has already resulted in the lifting and production of nautical cartography of the main ports of this country.
