Ended this Friday, March 26, 2021, the first phase of the ongoing multidisciplinary hydro-oceanographic campaign, initiated on March 21, 2021, aboard the NRP Admiral Gago Coutinho.
The work carried out consisted in the collection of sedimentary samples between Cabo Espichel and Ericeira, in collaboration with the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), within the framework of the TAGUSGAS, CSS and MARBIS projects, and with the Marine Geology Division of the Hydrographic Institute (HI).
At this stage of the mission, several marine sediment sampling equipment were used, namely, gravity corer, multicorer and boxcorer, which allowed the collection of vertical samples, in several seasons, in the zone of the Tagus delta and head of the Lisbon underwater cannon, in the continental platform of Tagus and Ericeira, between 20 and 150 m deep.
