Ceremony presenting the new editions of 440-A (Spanish) and 26312 (English)
In Ayamonte, on October 9, the ceremony for the presentation of the nautical letters 440-A and 26312, Spanish and Portuguese respectively, related to the mouth of the Guadiana river took place.
This event was attended by the Minister of National Defense, Dr. Azeredo Lopes, the Minister of Defense of Spain, Margarita Robles Fernández, the Mayors of Ayamonte and Vila Real de Santo António, the Ambassador of Spain in Portugal, the Consul of Portugal in Madrid, the Deputy Chief of the Staff of the Armada, Deputy Admiral Jorge Novo Palma, the Director-General of the Hydrographic Institute, Rear Admiral Carlos Ventura Soares, among other entities belonging to the Portuguese and Spanish delegation.
The ceremony began with a welcoming session by the Director of the Spanish Navy Hydrographic Institute and a joint presentation by the Directors of the Hydrographic Institutes of the Portuguese and Spanish Navys, based on the collaboration between these two institutes, especially in hydrographic surveys carried out together, which contributed to the publication of the new nautical letters. The following were the speeches of the Mayor of Ayamonte, the Mayor of Vila Real de Santo António, ending with the speeches of the Minister of Defense of Spain and the Minister of National Defense of Portugal.
After the ceremony, the entities moved to the pier of Ayamonte, where they embarked on the NRP Auriga hydrographic ship, for a navigation on the Guadiana River to the pier of Vila Real de Santo António.
