Oceanic multiparametric buoy of Sines collected for maintenance
The Navy Hydrographic Ship NRP D. Carlos I did another oceanographic work, off Sines, collecting for maintenance the multiparametric oceanic buoy found about 52 km west of that city.
In order to accomplish this task, a team of six elements from the oceanography division of the Hydrographic Institute embarked on the ship. In addition to the shipment of the said elements, he embarked to observe the collection operation of this buoy the Director General of the Hydrographic Institute, Rear Admiral Ramalho Marreiros.
The collection operations of these large buoys are concerned with the need for maintenance work. After completion of these work, the Navy vessel shall merge the buoy in the same position.
It should be noted the current importance of these buoys in obtaining various data such as wind measurement, water surface currents, water column current (deepness), atmospheric pressure and salinity, characteristics of the region.
