Monitoring campaigns - AQUIMAR Project

Under the AQUIMAR project - Marine Knowledge Supporting Aquaculture two more monitoring campaigns took place in February. The first campaign was held in Aveiro, on the 12th and the second on the Mondego River, on the 13th.

Twelve points were sampled in the Aveiro river and 9 points in the Mondego river, with sampling of water, sediment and measurement of physicochemical parameters.

For the first time, samples were taken for the determination of microplastics, one in the village of Aveiro and the other in the river Mondego, using a trawl suitable for this type of analysis (Microplastic Net ‘Manta’).

To carry out the campaigns, the Hydrographic Institute had the collaboration of the Capitania of the port of Aveiro, Capitania of the port of Figueira da Foz and the Maritime Police of both locations.
