Mission to detect and identify objects at seabed
A team of the Marine Geology Division, supported by the Maritime Instrumentation Centre of the Hydrographic Institute, is engaged in a mission aboard the NRP “Auriga” vessel for training equipment that is normally used in detecting and identifying objects at the bottom of the sea (side sound, magnetometer and ROV-Remotely Operated Vehicle).
The ROV is a remote controlled underwater vehicle used for observation of the seabed, in particular surface structures or objects. The Navajo ROV has the particularity of being equipped with an acoustic chamber, allowing for dives in low visibility conditions.
