Portuguese Navy holds technical meetings with DAMEN SHIPYARDS on the new ship Multifunctional Naval Platform
Under the contract for the supply of a ship Multifunctional Naval Platform, a cycle of technical meetings took place this week in the Ships Directorate and the Hydrographic Institute, which was attended by experts from DAMEN SHIPYARDS, the Monitoring and Supervision Team for the execution of the contract and members of the Hydrographic Institute. During the meetings, technical and scientific issues were discussed, fundamental to the project's progress.
This new Multifunctional Naval Platform, the NRP Dom João II, represents one of the pillars of the Navy's investment in the context of the Atlantic Defense Operations Center and Naval Platform, as outlined in the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR).
The NRP Dom João II will be dedicated to protecting and expanding the economic value promoted by the ecosystem services of the Ocean.
