Lecture on "Occupational Stress Management" at the Hydrographic Institute

On May 6th, the Hydrographic Institute hosted the lecture “Occupational Stress Management and Potentially Traumatic Events”, aimed at raising awareness of the importance of mental health in the professional context.

The session was led by Lieutenant Joana Firmo, Head of the Portuguese Navy’s Psychology Unit, who addressed the different types of stress, their consequences, and effective strategies for managing them.

The lecture also explored the impact of burnout on both personal and professional life, emphasizing the importance of recognizing signs of exhaustion and seeking professional support. Potentially traumatic events, their symptoms, and the varying ways in which individuals may be affected were also discussed.
