Did you know... safe sailing is a shared responsibility?

Navigation security is a shared responsibility! In fact, passengers, other navigators and authorities trust that the master of the vessel, in the preparations for the voyage and sailing, has the nautical elements needed and updated to maneuver his vessel to good port. As a contribution to this, the IH provides:

The navigator shall have on board the latest editions of the lesser-scale Nautical Charter and the Nautical Publications covering the area where he sails.

Letters and Nautical Publications can be purchased at the Hydrographic Institute via the Navegante Store (http://ln.hydrografico.pt/en/ ) or its official resellers. These should be updated from the Notices to Navigantes (AN), which are released by the Hydrographic Institute through the publication “Warnings to Navigantes – Monthly Groups”, available through the ANAVNET service at http://anavnet.hydrografico.pt . The ANAVNET service allows you to obtain, by selecting a particular letter or publication, the listing with all ANs to enter.
For greater convenience, the IH has a free service, called “Nautical Document Update Notices”, where the navigator receives, via email, information about all ANs that affect the Nautical Letters and Publications he has in his possession, facilitating the updating of them. This service can be obtained by registering at the Navigante Store, or by registering at www.hydrografico.pt .

You can refer to the forecasts of maritime unrest available on the Internet portal of the Hydrographic Institute, accessing the products “What is your Wave?” (http://www.hydrografico.pt/qual-e-a-tua-onda.php ) and/or the “Hydrographic” application for Android platforms https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=en.hydrografico.android.products ).

Up-to-date records of maritime unrest can be obtained from the buoy network (http://www.hydrografico.pt/ondografo.php ).
Tide height forecasts are available at : (http://www.hydrografico.pt/previsao-mares.php and http://www.hydrografico.pt/download-tables-mare.php );
