CMG Pereira Manteigas Selected as Deputy Director of the International Hydrographic Organization

The Director of the School of Hydrography and Oceanography of the Hydrographic Institute (IH), CMG EH Leonel Pereira Manteigas competed as Deputy Director of the International Hydrographic Organization (OHI) for the area of Coordination and Capacity Building, an area considered of high interest for the Hydrographic Institute and for itself.

After the selection process of among the 17 competitors that included the curricular evaluation and an interview, Ct. Manteigas was the selected one. This is the first time that a Portuguese person will be part of the staff of this International Organization, of which Portugal has been a founding member since 1921.

As mentioned in the Circular Letter No 64/2019 of OHI, the Cte. Manteigas that already has a long history of collaboration with this Organization, being to highlight its selection in 2018 as a member of the FIG/IHO/ICA International Board on Standards of Competence for Hydrographic Surveyors and Nautical Cartographers, will begin its future functions at the headquarters of this Organization in Monaco on May 15, 2020.
