Hydrographic Institute at the 2024 International Conference of submarine gliders in Gothenburg - Sweden

The Hydrographic Institute attended two communications at the International Underwater Glider Conference (IUGC 2024), held in Gothenburg, Sweden. The event was organized by the Voice of the Ocean Foundation - VOTO and was supported by OceanGliders and EuroGOOS, the European Global Ocean Observation System.

In the past five days, exceptional opportunities have been established for the exchange of experiences and knowledge of the development of best practices among members of the gliders community. Participants also had the opportunity to contact Gliders manufacturers directly, enabling a productive dialogue on the latest technological innovations. One of the highlights of the event was a visit to the Voice of the Ocean Foundation (VOTO), where participants were able to contact the gliders and facilities for preparing these equipment closely during a workshop held as part of IUGC 2024. This experience provided an in-depth overview of VOTO operations and innovations. For the international gliders community, technological advances are of great interest, representing significant opportunities for the development of new research projects. IUGC 2024 highlighted the importance of collaboration and knowledge sharing to boost progress in this vital field for ocean observation and preservation.
