Hydrographic Institute welcomes students from the University of Coimbra
The Hydrographic Institute (IH) welcomed last week a group of students from the Bachelor’s Degree in Geology at the University of Coimbra.
The purpose of this visit was to introduce the students to the organisational structure of the IH and the responsibilities of its various divisions, with particular emphasis on the Marine Geology Division.
During the session, the division’s specialists presented their main areas of activity, ongoing projects and working methodologies, providing students with a clearer understanding of the role of marine geology in the study and monitoring of the ocean environment.
The students visited the Marine Geology Division laboratory and the Maritime Instrumentation Centre at the Azinheira Hydrographic Base, where they also had the opportunity to learn about the vessels and oceanographic equipment operated by the IH in an operational context.
The session concluded with an information segment on career opportunities in the Portuguese Navy.
