Hydrographic Institute welcomes students from Nova SBE

The Hydrographic Institute (IH) welcomed yesterday, 3 November, a group of students from the Ocean Studies undergraduate program at Nova SBE, as part of the curricular unit “Principles of Oceanography.”

The visit provided the students with an opportunity to learn about the functioning, organizational structure and mission of the IH as the national technical authority in the field of marine science and technology, as well as the admission pathways to the Portuguese Navy.

The programme included visits to several divisions of the Technical Directorate — Navigation, Oceanography, Hydrography, the Technical-Scientific Data Centre, the Chemistry and Marine Geology laboratories — as well as to the Maritime Geospatial, Meteorological and Oceanographic Centre (CGEOMETOC) and the School of Hydrography and Oceanography.
