Hydrographic Institute Participates in the European Meeting on Environmental Chemistry
The Hydrographic Institute (IH), through its Division of Marine Chemistry and Pollution, participated in the 25th European Meeting on Environmental Chemistry (EMEC25), held from 22 to 25 November in Crete, Greece.
This annual event, organized by the Association of Chemistry and the Environment (ACE), brings together scientists, researchers, and industry professionals from around the world to share and discuss the latest and most relevant developments in the field of environmental chemistry.
At the conference, Naval Technical Officer José Vaz de Almeida delivered a presentation entitled “Long-Term Variation of Trace Metals in the Sediments of Five Portuguese Estuaries.” His presentation addressed the work conducted on the variation of metals found in sediments from the Ria de Aveiro, Mondego River, Sado Estuary, Mira River, and Ria Formosa, based on samples collected under the AQUIMAR and AQUASADO projects. Historical data from the Hydrographic Institute (1986–2010) relating to the Sado Estuary, obtained within the scope of the POLSADO program, were also considered.
