Portuguese Hydrographic Institute contributes to a campaign assessing the impacts of storms on the coastline

The Portuguese Hydrographic Institute (IH), represented by researcher Mónica Ribeiro, participated in a coastal monitoring campaign promoted by the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon and led by Professor Rui Taborda.

The campaign took place from 14 to 22 February, covering beaches between Marinha Grande and Cabo de Espichel, and aimed to assess the impacts of the recent storms on the Portuguese coastline. The activities included photographic records and topographic surveys of beach profiles, enabling the characterization of the changes observed.

This interinstitutional collaboration contributes to strengthening scientific knowledge on coastal dynamics and supports the sustainable management of the national coastal zone.
