Hydrographic Institute in the co-leading of IBIROOS
Recently, Dr. Luísa Lamas was elected unanimously as co-chair of IBIROOS during the annual meeting of this group that took place at the Hydrographic Institute in Lisbon.
The Iberia-Biscay-Ireland Operational Oceanographic System (IBIROOS) is the European Global Ocean Observing System (European Global Ocean Observing System), which aims to foster collaboration between 5 countries (Portugal, Spain, France, Ireland and the United Kingdom) for the development and implementation of ocean observation systems for the Iberia-Biscay-Ireland region (IBI), with the provision of products, services and operational data in real time.
Dr. Luísa Lamas is a PhD in Physical Oceanography from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon, and is currently responsible for Data Management and Processing in the Oceanography Division of the Hydrographic Institute. On its way, at the Hydrographic Institute, it has been developing value added products and services linked to the marine environment through the combination of information obtained by different platforms (in-situ observation, remote detection and modeling).
Dr. Luísa Lamas, now joins Dr. João Vitorino as a focal point of GOOS, and Commander Santos Fernandes as a member of the Executive Board of EuroGOOS, in national representation, and the Hydrographic Institute, in high-level positions of decision and strategy of the Global Ocean Observing Sytem (GOOS).
