Hydrographic Institute Welcomes Students from Instituto Superior Técnico

The Hydrographic Institute (IH) welcomed students from the Naval Engineering undergraduate program at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), as part of their Oceanography course.

The students were introduced to the organizational structure and operations of IH. In addition to visiting the divisions of the Technical Directorate and the Geospatial, Meteorological, and Oceanographic Maritime Center (CGEOMETOC), they also enjoyed a cultural tour of the historic Convento das Trinas building.

At the Azinheira Hydrographic Base, the students had the opportunity to visit the Maritime Instrumentation Center, the Calibration Laboratory, the vessels, and some of the oceanographic equipment operated by the Hydrographic Institute.

During the visit, information was also provided on how to join the Portuguese Navy.
