Hydrographic Institute Welcomes Visit from Seven Sisters of the Franciscan Congregation
This week, the Hydrographic Institute (IH) welcomed seven Sisters from the Franciscan Hospitaller Congregation of the Immaculate Conception, as part of a European tour that brought them to Lisbon before flying to Rome to meet the new Pope Leo XIV.
The group included six Sisters from the Province of Our Lady of the Mount, a Franciscan community based in Bandora, in the suburbs of Bombay, India, accompanied by Mother Sister Jennifer Greig from the Congregation’s house in Linda-a-Pastora.
Due to the exceptional significance that the Trinas building holds for this religious community — which regards it as their Mother House — and as has occurred on other occasions, the visit represents a tribute to an important place of remembrance, as it was here that Blessed Sister Maria Clara of the Child Jesus lived and founded her Hospitaller Congregation dedicated to sheltering abandoned women.
