Hydrographic Institute receives visit from the Chief of Staff of the Armada
The Chief of Staff of the Armada, Admiral Mendes Calado, visited last Friday, May 22, 2020 the Hydrographic Institute, in order to learn about the various projects and activities underway, which ensure the observation of the Ocean in the context of the current pandemic of COVID-19.
During the visit, which began at the Hydrographic Base in Azinheira, Seixal , the Director-General of the IH, Rear Admiral Carlos Ventura Soares, had the opportunity to direct a short briefing in which he addressed the installed capacities and the essential support of the Maritime Instrumentation Centre to the national marine monitoring network (MONIZEE). The commitment and commitment to the implementation of the mission by the IH was reiterated, even in times of pandemic, and strict self-protection procedures were adopted in line with those adopted by the Navy.
The visit was completed at the premises of Rua das Trinas, in Lisbon, where those responsible for the Geospatial, Meteorological and Oceanographic Maritime Center (CGEOMETOC) and NATO's future centre of excellence in this area (MGEOMETOC), co-locating in the IH, were able to update Admiral Mendes Calado in relation to the work carried out and in preparation in the area of support for maritime operations in the national and NATO contexts.
