Hydrographic Institute Welcomes Visit from Ocean Patrol
Last week, the Hydrographic Institute (IH) welcomed three members of Ocean Patrol, an environmental conservation organization based in Peniche.
This visit took place within the scope of a potential partnership between IH and Ocean Patrol, aiming to strengthen their marine conservation efforts through the use of scientific and technical knowledge.
The Ocean Patrol team had the opportunity to visit several departments within IH’s Technical Directorate, namely the Technical-Scientific Data Center, Navigation, and Hydrography, as well as the Marine Geology and Chemistry laboratories.At the Azinheira Hydrographic Base, they toured the Maritime Instrumentation Center, the Calibration Laboratory, the Hydrographic Brigade, the vessels, and the oceanographic equipment of the Hydrographic Institute.
In addition to learning about the work carried out by IH and its operational methods, the delegation also had the opportunity to enjoy a cultural visit to the Convento das Trinas, where the Hydrographic Institute is headquartered.
