Hydrographic Institute participates in the Workshop ‘Biodiversity of Macaronesia’

The Director General of the Hydrographic Institute (IH), Rear Admiral Carlos Ventura Soares and the TS Carla Palma of the Chemistry and Pollution Division of the Marine Environment of the IH traveled to the city of Praia to participate in the Workshop “Biodiversity of Macaronesia”, which took place on board the NRP Sagres, on 21 January. In this workshop, TS Carla Palma performed a presentation entitled “Microplastics in the Marine Environment”.

On that day, a round table was held at the University of Cape Verde on the theme of the circumnavigation of Fernão Magalhães, in which Rear Admiral Carlos Ventura Soares participated, presenting a communication entitled “The Sea 500 Years After Magellan: Challenges in a Globalized World”. At this round table also participated the head of the Mission Structure for the celebrations of the 5th centenary of the trip of Fernão Magalhães, Dr. José Marques, as well as Portuguese, Spanish and Cape Verdean researchers and historians.
